She’s the Duchess of Downton! Kate Middleton, a huge fan of the period drama ‘Downton Abbey,’ stopped by the studio to tour the set and meet the stars of the hugely popular TV show!
An excited Kate Middleton, 33, showed up to the set of Downton Abbey early on the morning of March 12 and left over half an hour later than expected — that’s how much fun she was having! She got to visit the hair & makeup department, chat with the cast/crew, watch actual scenes being filmed and she was even presented with a chocolate cake by Daisy and Mrs. Patmore! We have the full breakdown of her day below!
Kate Middleton Visits Downton Abbey Set
It’s hard to tell who was more excited about Kate’s visit — her or the cast and crew!

When Kate arrived to Ealing Studios around 10am, she was greeted by four-year-old Zac Barker and his twin brother Oliver — they play Lady Mary‘s son George. They presented her with flowers — how adorable?!
After the warm welcome, Kate headed on over to the make-up and costume trailers. While she was exploring the make-up department, she met housekeeper Mrs Hughes, played by Phyllis Logan, while she was getting made up for a scene — so cool!
Next up, Kate got to watch an actual scene being filled for season 6! She was also seen talking to Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley, and is also friendly with the Duchess’ sister Pippa Middleton!
Kate also got to meet with the costume designers, seamstresses and cutters who create the amazing and intricate outfits on the show. Being a lover of fashion, this must have been such a treat for the Duchess.
As her tour was coming to an end, Kate gathered with the whole cast/crew for an amazing group shot, which you can see above! And like we mentioned earlier, Kate had such a blast that she left later than she had planned.
