Over before it even begins? On the season premiere of ‘Bates Motel,’ a new guest checked in, and she might be throwing a wrench into things for a new couple.

After years of being best friends, on the season premiere of Bates Motel, Norman (Freddie Highmore) and Emma (Olivia Cooke) finally took things to the next level and are officially dating. However, before they can really get anywhere, we meet Annika (Tracy Spiridakos), and she certainly seems like she’s got potential for trouble. While there’s a lot we don’t know about Annika– okay a lot, a lot– one thing’s for sure: Norman is definitely drawn to her!

‘Bates Motel’: Annika & Norman?

Move over, Emma.

Well, maybe. After the bonkers Mar. 9 premiere episode of Bates Motel, fans are left wondering what the fate of mysterious guest Annika will be, as well as what her role in Norman’s life may turn into–if she’s even still alive, that is. So, is there any truth to the notion that Norman and Annika have something together?

“They do have a bit of a moment,” Tracy told Entertainment Weekly, referencing their moment in the premiere in which she asks Norman for directions, interrupting his date with Emma. “And you definitely see that there’s something there for her. But the relationship is different: the way that Annika sees Norman is as a sweet kid. She’s older than him, and the way that relationship grows is more out of that kind of way.”

Hm, well we’ve still got our eye on you, Annika!

‘You’ll See Her Around’

Tracy also shared that Annika will be very much around this season, so at the very least we do know that she isn’t dead. Well, not yet anyways.

“You’ll see her around,” Tracy said. “You’ll see her character has some important information for things that come forward that we’ll see in the future.”

What did you think of Annika upon meeting her? Would you want to see her get with Norman or do you like Norman and Emma together?
