Okay, this HAS to settle it — the dress is black and blue, right?! Even if you’re still seeing white and gold, you’ve got to admit that ‘American Idol’ contestant Jax stole the show on Mar. 6 during her performance of ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’!
When Jax, 18, stepped out on stage at The Fillmore in Detroit on Mar. 6 to perform a cover by Marvin Gaye, all eyes were on her — or rather, THE DRESS she was wearing! Yep, you know the one. Even Ryan Seacrest took to Instagram to comment (spoiler: he still sees white/gold). The power of #TheDress lives on!
#TheDress On ‘American Idol’: Contestant Jax Sports Viral Frock
We’re down to the top eight female performers on American Idol, and Jax’s powerful performance absolutely deserved the attention that came with her wearing #TheDress. Jax definitely put herself on the map with her outfit choice, and though her cover may not go as viral as #TheDress itself, we’re sure her decision to wear it will help win over some Idol viewers!
Thanks to Jax, the dress has made its debut on national television — and secured her a spot in the Top 16. How cool!
Jax’s version of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” was totally strong, and unique in a good way. She took Gaye’s song and put a jazzy, 1950s spin on it. Jax’s cover was perfect for the Motown-themed night, and judge Keith Urban applauded her “grit” and “strong artistry.” Dress or no, that’s a definite score for Jax!
Jax’s ‘American Idol’ Performance: #TheDress Is Front And Center
It’s only been a week since the dress became a full-blown Internet sensation, diving offices and households across the globe. We’ve seen diagrams, cartoons and a slew of other explanations, but for the most part we’re still a nation divided.
Other celebs took to social media to sound off on what they saw, and we’re sure Seacrest isn’t the only one still standing by his view of the dress!
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of Jax’s outfit choice for her performance? And more importantly, are you still seeing white and gold? Let us know!
