Start your day off on a creepy note! An official trailer for the upcoming thriller ‘Dark Places’ has just been released and it will definitely freak you out– or at the very least have you questioning the next woman you see in a trucker hat.
And just when we were starting to recover from Gone Girl! In the new psychological thriller Dark Places, written by Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn, a woman named Libby (Charlize Theron) is forced to relive the brutal killing of her family. In this first trailer, we see the horrifying lengths Libby must go to in order to get to the bottom of what really happened on that fateful night.
‘Dark Places’ Trailer: Charlize Theron Seeks Vengeance
“I was eight the night they were killed and suddenly I was famous,” Libby says in this extended trailer for Dark Places.
In the movie, we will see flashes from said night back in 1985, when someone, apparently named Ben Day, murdered Libby’s mother and sisters. It seems as though Libby has struggled to move on from the incident which, not only took her family from her, but has defined her in the public eye for 30 years.
However, when Libby is approached by a young man named Lyle (Nicholas Hoult), she can no longer hide from the haunting event.
“We call it the Kill Club,” Lyle tells Libby. “It’s like a bunch of people who like true crimes and mysteries: ex-cops, private and insurance investigators. We solve crimes, it’s what we do.”
Of course, Lyle has an ultimatum for seeking out Libby. Though the case has been closed for some time, all is not kosher, and as Libby begins to revisit the events of that night, she might start to see things differently.
“It’s time to tell the truth about the murders,” she says.
Along with Charlize and Nicholas, the film also stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Christina Hendricks and Corey Stoll.
