Kourtney Kardashian, 35, took to her Instagram on March 2 to flaunt her new post baby body in a tiny hot pink waist shaper. This hot mamma who just gave birth to Reign Aston Disick only three months ago, isn’t shy about trying out extreme health trends — she did in fact eat “yummy” placenta pills!
Kourtney started off her week in a healthy way, or so she thinks. The mommy of three posted a picture on Instagram of herself getting in shape, but not in the gym. Instead, she’s shaping her post baby bod in a tight waist trainer.
“Starting my Monday with a little waist training before I go to the gym! #onamission #waistgangsociety Go over to @premadonna87 or @pre_shop to get yours!,” she captioned the snap.
Celebrity fitness and healthy lifestyle expert Lisa De Fazio, MS, RD tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY, “The most common risks of waist cinchers are displacement and atrophy of the abdominal walls, deformation of the stomach, liver and lungs and decreased breathing capacity. It also decreases oxygenation throughout your body that can lead to metabolic and other issues. Because of these risks, extended use of waist cinchers is not recommended.”
“It can restrict your lungs, which can cause lung infections as well as restrict your bowels, which can cause constipation. It can also cause organ bruising and rib damage,” Lisa explains. “Just do the work and stop abusing your bodies!”
DavidBartonGym trainer Matthew Griffin agrees and explains to HollywoodLife.com why this new Kardashian trend is actually really dangerous for your body!
“Our abs are an essential element to the stabilization of our entire body, especially our spines,”Matthew explained. It is not only ineffective to depend on an outside force for a false sense of security, but downright dangerous depending on the exercise being performed.”
He continued to tell HollywoodLife.com, “Our abs stabilize our body because we engage them. If a corset is used to only mimic the shape of a toned midsection without actually using our muscles, the result is a false sense of strength and muscular engagement. It is much more effective, for both visual and health purposes, to work your abs (correctly) on their own- without an outside force providing an infrastructure that should be created through muscular contraction,” he told us.
We understand Kourtney wants to bounce back after having Reign, but this isn’t the healthiest way to do it. Hopefully, she tosses that pink waist trainer and just hits the gym the old fashion way!
Kourtney is the third Kardashian to jump on the waist training bandwagon. Younger sister Khloe, posted a photo on Feb. 24 showing off her tiny waist in a colorful trainer. She wrote alongside the pic about how “obsessed” she was with the waist shaper.
But the original waist shaper was Kim, who posted a picture of herself in a tight blue and black shaper back in Oct. 2014. Honestly, we just want to know how do these Kardashians breathe in those things?
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers, should Kourtney be waist training so soon after giving birth? Let us know your thoughts!
