In this week’s back-to-back episodes of ’19 Kids and Counting,’ we got to see a whole lot of family bonding. Also, Jessa and Ben made huge headway with their wedding planning.
On the March 3 back-to-back episodes of 19 Kids & Counting, the Duggar family proved that no matter how busy they are, they still make time for one another. Both Jim Bob and Michelle chiseled out some one-on-one time with John David, and it was hilarious. We also saw Josh put aside time to create Jessa and Ben‘s wedding invitations.
’19 Kids & Counting’ Recap: Michelle Learns How To Operate Heavy Machinery
The first episode started out with Michelle explaining that she finds it very important to still have one-on-one time with each kid, no matter how busy they are. She decides to join her son John David at work while he does construction. We quickly learn that everyone in the family relies heavily on John when it comes to fixing anything that’s broken. We also got to see just how much his family truly loves his kind hearted personality.
As soon as Michelle walks onto John’s construction site, he quickly offers to show her how to work a giant excavator. John is very patient with his mom as she learns how to pick up and dump dirt with the machine. Overall, John admits that he thinks Michelle did very well for her first time with the excavator.
Josh Designs Jessa’s Wedding Invitations
One of the best parts about having a large family, is that there’s always someone who can lend a hand. In tonight’s episode we got to see Josh help out his baby sister Jessa, by making her wedding invites. But we’re not talking about 100-200 invitations, it’s more like 800!
While Josh puts together his plan for Jessa’s invitations, his little ones join in on the fun and create their very own. Although they were super adorable, Josh stuck with his own idea for the invites.
In the end, Josh sends over a handful of his final products, and they looked amazing! Now Jessa and Ben can check off yet another big thing for their wedding.
Jill Puts Together A Sweet Gift For Derick’s Sick Mom
Jill is taking the daughter-in-law role very seriously. She decides to surprise Derick‘s mom with a care package, because sadly she is fighting cancer. Derick’s mother was truly touched by the giant basket filled with all of her favorite things.
We find out that Derick’s mom will be undergoing a stem cell transplant in Nebraska. But unfortunately, that means she won’t be around in person to find out the gender of her grandchild.
Jim Bob Goes On A Police Ride Along
One of John David’s many jobs is being a police officer. And in tonight’s episode, Jim Bob decides to tag along for the ride — literally.
As soon as Jim gets in his son’s police cruiser, John tells him that there’s two things he must NOT do, “Now the rule is, don’t touch any buttons… and don’t get out of the car.” Also, John tells him he has to wear a junior officer badge all day, which he happily agrees too.
At one point, Jim is so excited he even asks to hit the siren and lights. While John doesn’t agree to that, he does let his dad try out the radar gun — which was the most excitement he got.
At the end of John David’s shift, he pulls up to a car stop and Jim decides this is the best time to break the rules and get out of the car. The funny part was that Jim got out because he wanted to go grab snacks at the store nearby. But in the end John wasn’t mad, he was just happy to have his father along for the ride.
Jason & James Make Trial Run Pies For Jessa
With Jessa and Ben’s wedding rapidly approaching, the Duggar family has gone into full wedding mode. In the second episode, Jason and James decide to make pies as a trial run for their older sister’s rehearsal dinner. But these weren’t cherry filled baked goods, they were meat filled pies. And if Jessa and Ben like the pies, the Duggars will wind up making hundreds of them for the rehearsal dinner. The boys showed off their pies to Jessa and Ben, and the couple were very impressed. It looks like the boys will be quite busy before the wedding.
Josh Takes His Kids To The Music Store
Josh decided to bring his little ones to a music store for their first lesson. Josh revealed to the camera that, “Once you learn music, it opens up a pandora’s box of opportunities.”
Right away Mackynzie took to the violin, while her little brother Michael tried out the piano. There was one instrument in particular the kids gravitated towards — the drums! But, Josh didn’t think his wife will appreciate that.
Ben Custom Designs Jessa’s Wedding Ring
Ben was so happy with his engagement ring choice, that he sat down and sketched out what he thought the perfect wedding ring would be. He went back to his original jeweler, but was told he needed the engagement ring in order to create a custom wedding band. So Ben entrusts Jinger to snag Jessa’s ring without revealing the reason behind it.
Jinger causally tells Jessa she needs the engagement ring, because Ben needs to work on it for her. Although Jessa doesn’t question it, she knows Ben is up to something.
Back at the store, we got to see Ben choose the perfect design for his number one girl. Even Jinger agreed that Ben designed the perfect ring, and she knows her sister will be surprised.
Jessa Picks Out Her Flower Arrangements
During tonight’s second episode, we got to see Jessa check off another big thing for her wedding — figuring out flower arrangements. She heads to a flower shop with her little sisters to get a better idea of what she wants.
She admits that she doesn’t have a plan for her flowers, but after being taught how to make bouquets, she definitely got a better idea. Jessa even tells the camera that she isn’t opposed to going out into a filed and picking wild flowers for her wedding, but because of the weather, that’s not an option.
