At the end of season two of ‘The Following,’ Joe was left behind bars for good, and Ryan was ready to really start over. But we know this bromance isn’t over yet — and Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy aren’t ready to actually let go either.

The wait is finally over! The Following returns to Fox on March 2 and trust me — you’re going to want to tune in for this premiere. Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) may be behind bars, but we all know that doesn’t mean anything. So, what’s in store for Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon)? Luckily, HollywoodLife.com sat down with both Kevin and James to get to the bottom of the season.

‘The Following’ Season 3: Ryan Visits Joe In Prison

“I think to Joe, prison isn’t a big deal, because he can get out,” James told HollywoodLIfe.com during a recent set visit. “He’s always thinking of ways. He’s always one step ahead, isn’t he? That’s what Joe is, he’s Mr. One-Step-Ahead. So just because he’s in a maximum security prison 23 and a half hours of the day until death row, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s incarcerated. He’s someone that can sit in a cell without going crazy.”

However, it’s a little different this time around: Joe can’t get visitors, which was how he got that “tiny link to the outside. Through that, he can find a way to control things on the outside. He reads people. So so well.”

Of course, since we see in the trailer, there will be more killings happenings — and if Ryan needs Joe’s help, the police will most likely let him visit, right?

Don’t Expect ‘Hannibal Lecter’

“When sh-t starts hitting the fan and people are getting killed, you know I go, ‘Whoa could it be Joe? He’s in solitary he’s in lockdown. He’s not having any communication with anyone else. Who is it? Is he controlling? Is there a whole new killer is it one guy or a group?’ All these are the pieces I have to put together,” Kevin told us.

So, of course Ryan is trying to find answers about what’s going on, and has to visit Joe.

“We wanted to be careful not to create a Hannibal Lecter type situation, but it becomes impossible for me to avoid seeing him. Of course he’s thrilled,” Kevin added. I told him it’s because his visit is what helps Joe.

“Yeah, we’re bros,” was Kevin’s answer.

Needless to say, the premiere of The Following is one you won’t want to miss!
