Yes, Ryan Phillippe is now old enough to have a 17-year-old daughter. That’s the first fact I pulled from the premiere of ‘Secrets And Lies,’ but there are many, many more reasons to watch.
When Secrets and Lies began on March 1, I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw. It began with Ben, a father of two (Ryan Phillippe), finding the body of a young boy during his morning run. While I was convinced it would be yet another mystery show, it turned out to be much more than that, with twists and turns, shocking surprises, and of course, family drama. At the end of the two-hour premiere, I was left wanting more.
‘Secrets And Lies’ Premiere
Throughout the premiere, we met Ben’s estranged wife (KaDee Strickland) who isn’t exactly happy with her husband. They still live together, but their struggles are crystal clear: they recently had a blow out fight over another woman that he had hid from her. I won’t reveal too much since you learn more in the premiere, but basically, she has every right to be upset.
Of course, the biggest mystery of the entire show is Detective Andrea Cornell (Juliette Lewis). She’s convinced that Ben committed the crime — even though there’s no evidence that we’ve seen and many other suspects. Throughout the series, we’ll discover much more about her, and why she is the way she is.
The story kept you guessing throughout, but not too much — some of your questions do get answered in the first episode, and it doesn’t get to the point where you’re overwhelmed with questions.
Ryan Phillippe Is Sexy & Believable
As for Ryan, I was extremely impressed with his performance. The actor, 40, is known for his not-so-serious roles and well, yes, I couldn’t stop imagining Sebastian. Also, you get a peek at his all grown up body, which is extremely nice.
Ryan’s believable as a husband, a father, and overall, a man who isn’t exactly happy with where his life is, but loves his kids more than anything. Throw in his comic relief of a best friend (Dan Fogler), and the show really does make you count down the days until the next episode.
HollywoodLifers, are you hooked on the new series?
