‘Once Upon A Time’ is back! Season four returned on March 1, and the Queens of Darkness are ready to stir up some serious trouble!
Once Upon A Time has been away for far too long. The fairytale show returned on March 1, and it was epic. Regina (Lana Parilla) and Emma’s (Jennifer Morrison) amazing girlmance continued, the Queens of Darkness found their way into Storybrooke and Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming (Josh Dallas) are hiding something big.
‘Once Upon A Time’ Recap: Evil Lurks In Storybrooke
Everything was finally getting back to normal in Storybrooke and then some. Hook and Emma were getting coffee in the morning, and they kissed each other goodbye before they went to work. SO. FREAKING. CUTE.
Unfortunately, the fairies were still stuck inside the Sorcerer’s hat, and Belle was still grieving over the loss of Rumple. As Hook said, “As big a bastard as he was, he loved you.”
Over in New York City, Rumple was living with Ursula of all people. He was eating ramen noodles, so you know things were bad. Suddenly, everything changed. They headed to Long Island to visit Cruella! Apparently, all the trio’s other plans had failed, but now Rumple believed he could change the odds.
Like Belle, Regina was still mulling over Robin’s absence. She’d even pieced together the picture of her and Robin back together! She was thisclose to breaking down in front of Emma until they were interrupted by Belle and Hook! She had an incantation translated from an Oxford professor that could bring back the fairies. Regina performed the spell, and they were back! But she forgot to close the box. Evil lurked out in the form of a bat-like creature and headed to the middle of town.
‘Once Upon A Time’ Recap: A Long Time Ago…
Way back when, Rumple gathered his three evil ladies at Maleficent’s place. They all had one thing in common — they were villains. Rumple was ready for them all to get their happy ending. He needed their help to retrieve something he needed, and they all encountered a demon that only feeds on evil. Yikes.
When Rumple bounced because he’s the worst, the ladies had to work together to defeat the demon. Maleficent was the one the demon came after first because, you know, she’s Maleficent. She was almost a goner until Ursula saved her!
Oh yeah, Cruella has magic. That’s something Glenn Close didn’t have in the movie!
‘Once Upon A Time’ Recap: Say Hello To My New Friends
In the present day, Rumple had forgotten to mention to Ursula and Cruella that he couldn’t get into Storybrooke because of the protection spell. At this point, Cruella was done with Rumple. She pulled a gun on him and told him to spill.
Regina and Henry were still obsessed with finding out who the Author was and went straight to Mary after she returned. Despite what they thought, the Sorcerer and the Author were two very different people. Mary didn’t know him, but knew the Author existed.
Their chat was interrupted by a demon — the same demon that terrorized the Queens of Darkness! Storybrooke was sent into a frenzy. Emma and Regina used their magic together to stun the demon away.
Cruella and Ursula made a phone call to Regina to plead with her to let them in Storybrooke. They had one major thing going for them — they knew how to get rid of the demon! Regina and Emma made a deal. They banded together and got involved in a high stakes car chase with the demon. Before they let Ursula and Cruella in, Snow warned Emma and Regina not to trust these new ladies. Regina didn’t believe they could be any worse than what she once was.
Are you sure about that? Okay, I don’t want to question it. As Cruella rolled in, she said, “Thank you, Regina. You won’t regret it.”
Rumple waited and waited for Ursula and Cruella to return. At the moment he thought he’d been abandoned, they came back. Turns out, he was behind everything. He was the Oxford professor who translated the incantation for Belle, and he was the one who released the demon.
Ursula and Cruella were still worried about Regina and her dark heart. Rumple said it wasn’t Regina they needed to fear most… it was Emma! At the end of the episode, Snow and Charming had a little late night meeting with the newbies in town. The Charmings warned them not to reveal to anyone what happened between them in the Enchanted Forest. If they did, Snow said she would “pull out your hearts myself.” Dayum.
