He claimed that he and others took a couple pearls off of the dress and headed to the garment district in downtown L.A., where he was told the pearls were not real. This is a shocker, since the dress is valued at $150,000!
The thief reportedly told TMZ the reason he returned the dress was to let the world know “Hollywood’s fake bulls–t.”
TMZ contacted the L.A. Coutny Sheriff’s Department who then retrieved the bag in a garment bag inside a trash bag underneath a bathroom sink. Detectives are working to uncover if the dress returned is, in fact, the real dress stolen from Lupita’s hotel room.
