There’s a red carpet culprit on the loose! Lupita’s custom-made Calvin Klein creation, which featured 6,000 white Aokya pearls, was stolen right out of her hotel room just days after the Oscars.
Is someone trying to give the bling ring a run for their money? Just two days after Lupita Nyong’o debuted her one-of-a-kind Calvin Klein dress on the red carpet at the Oscar Awards in LA on Feb. 22, the gown was stolen — and right out of Lupita’s hotel room! It sounds like the actress could use a little help from Liam Neeson, if you ask me.
Lupita Nyong’o’s — Oscar Dress Stolen From Hotel Room:
The dress was taken from Lupita’s room at The London West Hollywood while the star was out and about, between 8AM-9PM on Tuesday, Feb. 24, sources tell TMZ.
The custom-made creation, made of 6,000 Akoya pearls, is valued at a whopping $150,000 and cops are currently checking security footage, hoping to capture the red carpet culprit.
While Lupita debuted the dress on the red carpet at the 2015 Oscar Awards, since it was on loan from the fashion house she could not file the police report herself — even though she tried to, almost immediately after she realized the gown was taken. The actress had a large glam team, including makeup and hair artists, dress fitters, stylists and friends, who all had keycards that provided them with access to Lupita’s hotel room, a source told The Daily News.
Lupita was one of the best dressed stars at the 2015 Academy Awards when she stepped out in such a unique gown — can you believe someone thought they could take the high-fashion frock and no one would notice? After all, it isn’t like they could just saunter into a party rocking the very memorable look!
