Giuliana took responsibility for her Zendaya scandal in an emotional on-air apology on Feb. 24. But now she’s heartbroken over the lack of support she’s received from the cast and crew of ‘Fashion Police’ — especially Kelly Osbourne.
Gone are the days when Fashion Police was “one big happy family.” Giuliana Rancic, 40, has been the butt of some major backlash after she made a controversial remark about Zendaya‘s dreadlocks on a Feb. 23 episode. And to make matters worse, she feels that her “whole team turned their backs on her” after the scandal, a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. Here’s what’s happening behind the scenes.
Giuliana Rancic’s ‘Fashion Police’ Scandal: Reaction From Co-Hosts Hurt Her
“Giuliana is still devastated over this,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “She feels like her whole team turned their backs on her. Kelly was the worst but it wasn’t just her, she feels like her bosses weren’t there for her either.”
“They make it feel like one big happy family — they try to at least — but the way they were ready to throw her under the bus for this proved how untrue that is,” our source adds. “She felt like they might fire her over this. That isn’t on the table anymore but at one point it was being discussed.”
Giuliana Rancic ‘Made Zendaya Hair Remark 3 Times,’ Ignored Warnings Not To
Perhaps Giuliana co-hosts haven’t been very supportive because Kelly reportedly warned her repeatedly to refrain from making the hurtful comments about Zendaya, 18, in the first place.
“Giuliana said the words ‘patchouli oil’ and ‘weed’ three times” in front of a live audience, the source added. “They all heard the three takes.”
Still, the Fashion Police producers were the ones who made the final call to air the segment, so we think it’s only fair that they shoulder some of the blame too.
“It is important in this journey to remember that just because someone has inflicted hurt upon us, it does not give us the right to do the same. Giuliana, I appreciate your apology and I’m glad it was a learning experience for you and for the network.”
So what do YOU think, HollywoodLifers — should Giuliana’s Fashion Police family have shown her more support? Tell us how you feel.
