Ariel Camacho was just 22 years old with a whole life ahead of him when he was killed in a devastating car crash on Wednesday, Feb. 25, just outside Sinaloa, Mexico. The singer, who must have been so excited to share his new album with his fans, will be mourned by so many.
Ariel Camacho Dead — Singer Killed In Car Crash
“My heart is broken by the loss of Ariel Camacho,” the president of the Regional Mexican label, Angel Del Villar, said in an official statement after news of Ariel’s death broke.
“I knew he was going to transform the genre in Mexico and the United States. Millions of people would have become fans and would have gotten to know the man I did.”
Two other people were also killed in the car accident, reports BBC Mundo, although their identities have yet to be released. It is unclear whether or not they were traveling with Ariel, or if they were in different vehicles.
Ariel was best known as the frontman for the group Los Plebes del Rancho, and he was on the road to promote the exciting release of the deluxe version of their album, El Karma. Ariel’s fan base was loyal to him for his Sierreno-style music, especially his “soft” vocals and guitar-playing, reports TIME.
Our thoughts go out to Ariel’s friends, family, and fans during this very difficult time.
