May the odds be in her favor! The season 20 cast of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ has been announced, and Willow Shields is one of the competing celebs! Get to know this fabulous young star a litter better here!
You all know her as JLaw’s little sis in ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise, and at just 14, Willow Shields, is at the top of her game. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 is due in November 2015, where fans will once again cheer her on Primrose Everdeen. And soon, she’ll be dancing with Mark Ballas, 28, on Dancing with the Stars. But you already know all that! Now, check out 5 things we rounded up about Willow that you may not have heard!
Willow Shields: 5 Things You Didn’t Know About ‘The Hunger Games’ Star
1. At fourteen, Willow is the youngest contestant ever to join the DWTS cast.
Willow isn’t old enough to have a driver’s license yet, but she can do the tango on national television! Her dancing partner, Mark Ballas, will be sure to show her all the steps, since he’s a professional ballroom dancer and experienced choreographer. Maybe we’ll even see another dance war— with Willow joining in, of course.
2. She’s a juice enthusiast.
Willow is constantly tweeting about her homemade juicing experiences, including the occasional mishap. She even commented about juice on Instagram while on her most recent tour, for Mockingjay – Part 1. Maybe that’s part of the reason why Willow has such great hair and skin. If she’s eliminated from DWTS, she could always write a juice recipe book in her free time!
3. Willow stays up to date on pop culture.
Willow’s got opinions about movies, books and music, just like the rest of us. Seventeen Magazine reported that she’s a huge Harry Potter fanatic (her favorite character is Ron Weasley) and she’s a self-proclaimed fan of author John Green, 37– she’s read all of his books and loved The Fault in Our Stars. Furthermore, she is obsessed with Lorde, 18, and loved that the New Zealand singer/songwriter helped curate the soundtrack for Mockingjay – Part 1.
4. She has a twin sister.
Did you see that one coming? Yep, Willow has a fraternal twin named Autumn! It’s no wonder that Willow took to the role of Primrose so easily– the bond between Katniss and Prim is a huge part of The Hunger Games‘ story and Willow used her real-life sisterly experience to make the relationship shine on-screen. Willow and Autumn are really close, as she told Teen Vogue: “I try to take her everywhere with me…Shooting a dramatic scene like the reaping, I imagine it happening to Autumn in real life. Having a sister is very helpful for this role.” Autumn is also an actress, and was in the film The Homesman with Tommy Lee Jones, 68, and Hilary Swank, 40.
5. Like any smart human, Willow loves Meryl Streep.
Meryl, 65, is the actor that Willow would most love to collaborate with, as she told Huffington Post. She also said in a Vanity Fair interview that she looks up to Meryl “because she’s been in so many amazing movies” and “she’s one of the greatest actresses out there.” We’re right there with you, Willow.
The season premiere of Dancing with the Stars airs Mar. 16th at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
