Eek. One news reporter was so surprised by Lady Gaga’s stunning voice that she shockingly used a nasty racial slur to describe the singer’s music. Click inside to WATCH.
Lady Gaga, 28, definitely showed off her best vocals at the 2015 Oscars, but, unfortunately, not everyone was left impressed. Kristi Capel, a Fox news anchor in Cleveland, Ohio, really messed up when she referred to Gaga’s music using a horrific racial slur the morning after the live broadcast on Feb. 23. How awful.
Lady Gaga’s Oscar Performance: Racial Slur
If you were totally obsessed with Lady Gaga’s stunning, jaw-dropping performance of a medley from The Sound of Music, you were not alone.
Unfortunately, one early morning news anchor was alone when she referred to Gaga’s music as being “jigaboo” — a well-known racial slur that is used to refer to people of color.
“It’s hard to really hear her voice with all of that jigaboo music, whatever you want to call it, jigaboo,” Kristi said while discussing the performance with another anchor. She laughed as she said it, and it was clear that she didn’t realize she was using such a nasty word on live television.
Understandably so, Kristi started to receive a lot of flack on Twitter for her comment, and she quickly tried to save face by sending out a copy and pasted tweet to the hundreds, if not thousands, of viewers who had been watching at the time.
Kristi Apologized For Her Mistake
“I do apologize if I offended you, I didn’t know the meaning behind it or that it was even a word. Thank you for watching,” she wrote about an hour after the comment aired on live television.
Yikes. Maybe Kristi will put a little more thought into her words before she accidentally offends her viewers again.
