Shots were fired at the 87th annual Academy Awards on Feb. 22. Neil Patrick Harris, who hosted the ceremony, not only came out singing, dancing, and performing some magic, but he totally threw shade at Kanye West and had us roaring with laughter!
Neil Patrick Harris, 41, lit up the stage inside the Dolby Theater during his opening monologue at the 2015 Oscars on Feb. 22. He sang and danced — which is what he does best — but he also took a moment to throw a jab at Kanye West, poking fun at the rapper for storming the stage at the Grammy Awards.
Neil Patrick Harris’ Oscars Opening — Host Disses Kanye West In Monologue
To kick off the show, Neil first performed a song, which paid tribute to some of the most iconic movies from the last several decades. And after Anna Kendrick surprised the audience and joined NPH on stage, Jack Black interrupted with his own song and dance.
It was so entertaining, but we don’t think Kanye will be a fan. Midway through his opening number, Neil said, “I secretly hope somebody pulls a Kanye West,” as the camera panned to Clint Eastwood.
Obviously, Neil was referring to Kanye storming the stage during Beck‘s win at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 8. Let’s just hope Clint doesn’t do the same if he doesn’t win an Oscar tonight.
Either way, we love Neil Patrick Harris. He never fails to get the audience laughing. Thankfully, we’ll be seeing a lot more of Neil Patrick Harris in the near future.
Neil Patrick Harris Will Host His Own Variety Series
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Neil Patrick Harris will host his very own variety series on NBC later this year.
In a sneak peek that aired during the Super Bowl, Neil explains, “I only have 15 seconds to tell you about my new, really big show.” He then walks toward a chorus line of dancers. “So I thought instead, why not perform a thrilling number to give you a glimpse of what’s coming?”
He then strikes a pose, the music starts, and then we hear “out of time, Niel.” (Argh!)
The sneak peek, as well as Neil’s hosting gig at this year’s Oscars, has us wanting more! This man can do no wrong. Don’t you agree?!
