Daytona 500 Results 2015: Joey Logano Wins — Congrats
Regardless of who you were rooting for on Feb. 22, we had to give it to Joey for a stellar race!
This is — without a doubt — his best day ever!
Overall, NASCAR’s highly anticipated race was decidedly smoother than last year. As we previously reported, Danica Patrick was one of13 cars involved in a crash. It’s hard to forget how horrifying it was when she crashed head-on into the outside wall on Feb.23 2014.
Unfortunately, right before the big race a controversy made headlines on Feb. 20, when driver Kurt Busch was suspended indefinitely from the race after alleged details of a domestic violence incident were revealed by a judge.
The former champion allegedly choked and harmed a former girlfriend of his last fall, according to NASCAR. This shocking news was truly horrific to hear about, and it’s no surprise at all that NASCAR decided to cut him off.
“Kurt Busch and his Stewart-Haas Racing team are fully aware of our position and why this decision was made,” NASCAR said in a statement.
“NASCAR has made it very clear to our entire membership and the broader industry that any actions of abuse will not be tolerated in the industry,” said, Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer. “I want to make it clear that any inference that there is a culture or tolerance for this type of behavior is patently false,” added Steve.
