Scarlett Johansson: The Singles Girl Group Drops First Song, ‘Candy’
We can easily imagine a bunch of single ladies dancing to the Singles for a girls night out! We really love how all five members: Scarlett, Este Haim, Holly Miranda, Kendra Morris, and Julia Haltigan, sound together. Listen to “Candy” here!
“The idea was to write super-pop dance music written and performed by girls,” revealed Scarlett to Rolling Stone. “I wanted it to be like those bands: ultra-pop but also a little ironic, a little in on the joke,” added the actress.
We even love the sweet art for the LP, which depicts a a mouth licking a lollipop. Those luscious lips look exactly like Scarlett’s iconic pout!
The star also cited fellow females musicians such as Grimes, the Bangles and the Go-Go’s, as large influences behind the band’s sound according to Rolling Stone.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time that the sex symbol has pursued music. Before forming an all female band, Scarlett first collaborated with Pete Yorn on Break Up in 2009 and first gave us a peek of her music talent in 2008 for Tom Waits tribute Anywhere I Lay My Head.
