It seems like orange will be the old black for some on the Netflix series ‘Orange is the New Black’ (see what we did there?). With production of the new season underway, it’s just been announced that a series regular will not be returning– and you might be happy about it!
Oh Larry (Jason Biggs), we hardly knew ya. Actually, that’s false. We knew you quite well and grew to somewhat hate your initially lovable yet ultimately backstabbing character on Orange is the New Black. Piper (Taylor Schilling) can totes do better! And no, we are not referring to Alex (Laura Prepon). Check out the just announced third season scoop!
‘Orange Is The New Black’: Jason Biggs Not Returning
Bon voyage, Larry.
Piper’s fiancee turned ex-fiancee turned best-friend-who-just-had-a-baby-dating creep, Larry, will be nowhere to be found when OITNB bounces back to Netflix in June.
Some fans may be disappointed but, if you’re anything like me, you are nothing but satisfied. At the start of the series, Larry was the stable answer to Piper’s unstable past and his (seemingly) unconditional support as she headed to prison was heartwarming.
However, as the two seasons progressed, so too did Larry’s d-baggery and, somewhere in the midst of Piper’s prison assaults and trips to the SHU, Larry decided it was okay to start a relationship with Piper’s bestie Polly (Maria Dizzia) who, grossly, just had a baby with another guy, whom the two are also stabbing in the back.
Good Riddance, Larry
What’s worrisome though, is that just because Larry won’t be on season three does not mean he is permanently dismissed.
“They’re not focusing on Larry at the moment,” Jason told The Daily News. “Larry will not be in season three. But there’s always a possibility he can come back.”
Um, okay, but remember Orange is the New Black producers and writers: just because he can come back does not in any way, shape or form mean that he should.
What do you think about Jason leaving Orange? Are you sad to see him go or do you, like me, pretty much loathe his character?
