From Brooklyn to the White House! It’s just been confirmed that a ‘Girls’ star will pay a visit to ‘Scandal’ and the details might shock you!
That’s right Gladiators: Girls star (and creator) Lena Dunham will be guest starring on ABC’s smash hit series Scandal. While no official date for Lena’s episode has been announced just yet, her arc has been confirmed, allowing for speculation of what her role in the series will be to run rampant!
Lena Dunham On ‘Scandal’?
This is so odd, yet feels so right.
Girls creator and star (and writer and producer and occasional director) has long expressed her love for the Shonda Rhimes-created series Scandal and now it seems like that love will pay off in a major way: Lena will appear on the political-thriller at some point during an episode in March, Entertainment Weekly has learned.
Not only has Lena mentioned Scandal frequently in interviews and in her writing (as well as acted in a Scandal-themed sketch on Saturday Night Live when she hosted), she has also given the series shoutouts in her own show, depicting the characters being just as obsessed with the series as we are.
“I hope someday that I know the passion that Huck feels for Quinn,” Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) said in a recent episode of Girls. Ugh, so do we Shosh. So do we.
Lena Loves Shonda
It’s not surprising that Lena looks up to Shonda so much, as both women have been trailblazers in the television landscape.
In fact, in the new issue of Glamour, Lena explained exactly why she is inspired by Shonda. “Shonda has taken over a full freaking day of the week with her addictive programming,” said Lena. “She’s done it unapologetically. And Scandal has made wine and popcorn seem like a viable, even healthful, meal.”
We couldn’t agree more, Lena.
Are you excited to see Lena go from Girls to Scandal? Any guesses on whom she might play?
