All for one and one for all! It’s been 20 years (!) since ‘Now & Then’ hit theaters, and now, the director has revealed that there’s a possibility the girls may be reuniting soon. Of course, they’d have to play the older versions of themselves, now!
The star-studded cast of Now & Then may be coming to a theater near you. Lesli Linka Glatter, the director of the 1995 film about a friendship in the ’70s, just revealed in a new interview that discussions of a reunion “has come up” with the creator! So, can we expect Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, Gaby Hoffmann and Ashleigh Aston Moore to head back to the treehouse?
‘Now & Then’ Remake Coming?
“I’m very friendly with the woman who wrote it, Marlene King, so yes, that has come up,” Lesli told Vulture at the DGA awards, where she was nominated for an episode of Homeland. And yes, Marlene King is also the creator of another masterpiece about girls, Pretty Little Liars. You may remember that inn 2014, Marlene revealed that they were discussing turning the film into an ABCFamily show, but we haven’t heard anything on that front.
“It seems to be [with] this film especially, young women have come of age on it and I love that; that was one of the reasons we made it, there hadn’t been anything done about young girls growing up.” Lesli said. “What’s sort of fun is Gaby Hoffman is Claire Danes‘s best friend. So I’ve been reunited with Gaby, who’s so amazing in Transparent, as an adult. She’s incredible.”
Can Devon Sawa Come Too?
Now, we’d have to say if they remade the film, we’d hope the young actresses that portrayed the kids would now play the adults. So, what about the amazing A-listers who played the adults in the ’95 film — Rosie O’Donnell (Roberta), Demi Moore (Samantha), Rita Wilson (Chrissy), and Melanie Griffith (Teeny)?
Well, we can hope that they’ll make cameos too, of course. Oh, and we have to see Devon Sawa so we can recreate this moment. Do you agree?
