Poor Allison Williams. The ‘Girls’ actress has postponed her wedding after her father, well-known news anchor Brian Williams, was suspended by NBC for lying about his war reporting in Iraq back in 2003.
Allison Williams, 26, is holding off on planning her wedding to her fiance, Ricky Van Veen, due to the shocking scandal surrounding her father, Brian Williams, 55. For the first time since he was suspended from his nightly news position on NBC, Allison opened up about how the ordeal has affected her family — and her wedding.
Allison Williams Postpones Wedding Over Brian Williams Scandal
This should be an exciting time for Allison and her family, but, unfortunately, it’s quite the opposite.
“[…] then current events started happening and so that derailed [wedding planning] a little bit,” Allison explained during her Q&A at the 92Y in New York City on Wednesday night, Feb. 18.
However, Allison is being a good sport about the whole situation and also shared that she and her fiance, Ricky, are still very much excited to tie the knot.
“It has been this really beautiful through-line in our lives. It’s just something we haven’t focused on, but, spoiler alert, we are excited,” she shared with a laugh.

During the same Q&A, Allison was very open about her father’s suspension and how it’s affecting her family aside from her wedding.
“This has been a really hard time,” Allison explained.
Thankfully, many people have been supportive despite Brian’s scandal. Allison shared that, “It’s been incredible to experience the outreach from people you love, family, friends, and then people we don’t even know, strangers, just reaching out saying we want him back on TV.”
Allison was also happy to defend her father’s integrity, telling the 92Y audience that her father is a “truthful” and “good” man and even better father. Aw!
