Pharrell Williams has yet another reason to be happy, he’s penned a deal to break into the world of children’s books. ‘The Voice’ judge signed an agreement with Putnam to write four new picture books starting with, you guessed it — ‘Happy.’
If there is one thing Pharrell Williams knows, it’s how to be happy. Now, he’s taking that feeling and expressing it via children’s picture books. The hit-maker has teamed up with Putnam Books and announced on Feb. 17, that his first picture book, “Happy,” will be published Sept. 22. So exciting!
Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ Children’s Book: Singer To Release First Picture Book
Is there anything Pharrell can’t do? Now he can add author to his long resume. The singer has inked a deal with Putnam books, which is a division of Penguin Young Readers, to release a series of four picture books for kids. So cool!
The first book called “Happy,” will feature photographs of children from around the world “celebrating what it means to be happy,” Putnam said in a statement, according to People.
Pharrell added in the statement, “My collaboration with Penguin allows me to continue a dialogue with these children in a fresh, new way. We’re both committed to feeding the curiosity of young minds with imagination.”
He went on to say, “I’m humbled by the global success of ‘Happy,’ but especially in awe of the song’s young fans.”
That’s great he wants to connect with a much younger audience, because his music does influence kids of all ages.
Putnam Books Thinks Pharrell Is The Perfect Fit
Pharrell is so talented and radiates happiness, so it comes as no surprise that Putnam would team up with him.
“This is the beginning of an incredible partnership with one of America’s most talented and beloved stars,” added Don Weisberg, president of Penguin Young Readers. “Pharrell has an important and inspiring message about individuality and being your best self, and we’re proud to help him share that with young children.”
