Boho fabrics and retro detailing were all over the runway at the Tracy Reese Fall 2015 show. From luxurious furs and cozy sweater dresses to sparkling sequin sheaths and mod boots, this collection would work both on the red carpet, at the afterparty and on the sidewalk!
Modern cuts met ‘70s patterns and fabrics at Tracy Reese‘s show on Feb. 15 at Artbeam during New York Fashion Week. Tracy was inspired by traditional African motifs as well as contemporary patterns. Power and femininity emanated from every look, and there was both a nod to the future and an “appreciation of the past.” Sequins were a theme throughout, from a flowing gown with an intense gilded pattern to a short leather dress. There was a constant mixing of materials, such as a navy cotton dress with bold diagonal stripes of fur running from top to bottom.
Tracy Reese’s Fall 2015 Collection — PICS:
As the show began, smoke and pounding music from fresh artists like Azealia Banks filled the room, and there were three separate runways– it was hard to know where to look!
A navy minidress with a leather collar would be perfect for a chilly autumn date, especially if paired with over-the-knee black suede boots. On the edgier side was a vibrant red cropped sweater and matching a-line skirt. The red knee-high socks may be a little much for the average fashionista, but for the most part, a monotone look is totally wearable — especially come fall.
I can absolutely envision Mary-Kate Olsen throwing on one of the thick fur vests or oversized sweaters. Nicole Richie would look fabulous in the black jumpsuit with a sweetheart neckline. As for other proven Tracy Reese fans, actresses Vivica A. Fox and Alison Wright as well as prima ballerina Misty Copeland were spotted in the front row and happily took selfies with fans before the show!
Tracy’s collection achieved the modern-boho look across the board. A shock of leather or sequins here and there kept things fresh and contemporary, and the best part was that the models looked comfortable. Who wouldn’t be, if you got to strut down a runway wearing a giant sweater and slouchy leather boots? Indeed, the models smiled and clapped along with the audience at the end of the show — it was covetable and chic, and we cannot get enough of it.
