The opening monologue of Saturday Night Live‘s 40th anniversary special was one of the most anticipated — and will likely go down as one of the most remembered — moments of the night! Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon had us cheering from the very first moment to the last on the Feb. 15 show. ‘SNL’ 40th Anniversary Opening Monologue — Justin Timberlake & Jimmy Fallon
Justin and Jimmy are like two peas in a pod, so we weren’t too surprised to see them open the show together. But we were definitely pleased to see them perform bits of their most famous SNL sketches, while singing “Dick In A Box” and dancing around the stage.
They were even joined by popular SNL characters. Debbie Downer focused on the negatives of the night — no surprise there. And Mary Katherine Gallagher gave her armpits a good sniff and yelled, “Superstar!”
It was amazing!
Following the opening monologue, viewers and longtime SNL fans will likely see a ton of great sketches and performances throughout the night. Eddie Murphy, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and so many more celebs are expected to show up at some point during the anniversary special. *NSYNC is also in the audience, but will they perform? Only time will tell!
