Designer Jay Godfrey’s Fall 2015 collection was fun and contemporary with a little ’90s flair. Strong tailoring, impeccable lines and sleek silhouettes alongside a fabulous color scheme spelled perfection — and many of the featured pieces would look fantastic on the red carpet!
Jay Godfrey called this his “full-circle collection,” because the brand started out by focusing on tailoring before becoming known for its sexy, red carpet dresses. Now, Godfrey has decided to combine those elements. The collection debuted during New York Fashion Week on Feb. 14 at Lincoln Center and consisted of floor-length, bodycon dresses in a range of solids and florals, flowing jumpsuits and silk draping. The color palette was made up of beautiful charcoal and orchid hues, and of course there was plenty of marsala– otherwise known as Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year. From The Real Housewives of New York‘s Kristen Taekman ,(who made an appearance at the presentation!), to Naya Rivera and Shanola Hampton, it’s easy to imagine tons of our favorite celebs rocking Godfrey’s latest collection!
Jay Godfrey’s Fall 2015 Collection — PICS:
I can definitely see Naya flaunting one of the floor-length floral halter gowns at a premiere, especially with her signature smoky eye look. Shanola would also light up the red carpet in the hot pink flare-leg trouser and tie-neck blouse — the fuchsia definitely suits her cheerful personality.
The black, 4-ply jumpsuit with the marsala silk sash is perfect for an elegant cocktail party. You could also remove the sash and wear a button-down blouse underneath for a work-appropriate look.
I was able to catch up with the designer about his collection during the presentation — I will say he was very relaxed in the midst of all the commotion!
“This is really what I call my full-circle collection,” Godfrey tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “We started out with tailoring eight years ago, became known for our sexy dresses, and this is a way of injecting tailoring in an otherwise very, very sexy dress world.”
As for his dream celebrity client?
“I think Queen Rania of Jordan would be great in this. She is sophisticated, she is a beacon of modernity.”
