As we know, ‘Glee’ is bravely depicting one of its characters transitioning between genders and the Feb. 13 episode is said to be the most emotional yet!
Back on the Jan. 16 episode of Glee, we learned that Coach Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones) was in the midst of undergoing treatments to transition from female to male. Nearly a month later, the Feb. 13 episode, appropriately titled “Transitiong,” will depict her journey as it hits its emotional peak. In fact, the filming was so intense, it even made Dot cry!
‘Glee’: Coach Beiste’s Transgender Journey
“It was one of the proudest moments of my life,” Dot recently told Access Hollywood about Glee‘s transgender story arc this season.
We’ve seen Coach Beiste’s journey for a few episodes now, and the newest will show her journey come to fruition in a beautiful manner.
“This episode is unbelievable,” Dot said. “Over 200 trans men and women who were in it were just so proud to be represented.”
We’re already sobbing. In fact, Dot said the whole experience was so overwhelming, she too couldn’t keep her emotions held in. “I cried the whole way home driving home from work that night,” she said.
‘I Want To Do Them Justice’
Though Dot is very proud of the storyline now, that wasn’t always the case.
“At first I was nervous because the last four years I’ve been the underdog for the big girls and tomboys, you know, just the big girls who are tomboys and they’re straight and I don’t want to feel like I’m letting them down,” she said. “But then I read the whole script and I was in tears and it was like, ok, now I have a whole other demographic that I don’t wanna let down. And I want to do them justice. That’s all I ever want to do.”
So sweet! Somehow we think Dot will certainly manage to fulfill that goal.
What do you guys think, are you excited to see the transitioning storyline come full circle?
