It’s about time! After what we’re sure was a much needed break, Florence and the Machine is back, and safe to say, better than ever!
After teasing fans earlier in the week with clips, the full song and accompanying music video for Florence + the Machine‘s “What Kind of Man” dropped on Feb. 13, and you need to consume both immediately. In the song– and the racy video– Florence Welch finds herself in the midst of a “storm” which, of course, refers to love. Check it out inside!
Florence + The Machine New Single
“I heard you talking in your sleep last night,” a man says to Florence at the start of the video for “Some Kind of Man,” before the song begins.
“You seemed sad,” he adds.
So Florence asks the obvious, why didn’t you wake me?
“I didn’t want to intervene,” he says. “You seemed like you were suffering somewhere else–I didn’t want to drag you out of it.”
Um, wrong answer dude!
“So you think that people who suffer together would be more connected than people who are content?” she asks him.
And thus begins the music video– which really could be thought of more so as a short film set to music. Its’ heartbreaking, it’s intense… And it’s not exactly suitable for work!
Florence Is Back
“There’s this big storm all around us and we’re in the middle of it, so it’s calm, but you can feel it like it’s everywhere,” Florence says during the heartbreaking first single off the band’s new album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, which will be available in full on June 2.
Though we’ve got quite a long way to go until that official release date, we’ll happily listen to this single about a million times to tide us over.
What do you think of the new song?
