Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg gave us one more reason to love her when she spoke out in support of legalizing gay marriage nationwide in a powerful new interview with Bloomberg on Feb. 11. Watch it right here!
Ruth Bader Ginsberg, 81, has seen the enormous “change in people’s attitudes” about gay marriage, and she firmly believes that Americans are finally ready to embrace same-sex unions. “I think that as more and more people came out and said that ‘this is who I am,’ the rest of us recognized that they are one of us,” Ruth says in an emotional new interview. Ruth Bader Ginsburg On Gay Marriage: Justice Urges America To Support It
Like President Barack Obama, Ruth is in favor of gay weddings — and she believes the majority of Americans are too.
“The change in people’s attitudes on that issue has been enormous,” Ruth said in an interview with Bloomberg on Wednesday, Feb. 11. “In recent years, people have said, ‘This is the way I am.’ And others looked around, and we discovered it’s our next-door neighbor — we’re very fond of them. Or it’s our child’s best friend, or even our child. I think that as more and more people came out and said that ‘this is who I am,’ the rest of us recognized that they are one of us.”
“Having people close to us who say who they are — that made the attitude change in this country,” Ruth added.
We think Ruth is 100 percent right and we hope that it will soon be legal for all same-sex couples to legally wed in America!
