We’re in the midst of some Spider-Man musical chairs. Following reports that Andrew Garfield would be leaving his Spidey suit behind, the role is now vacant for someone else to step in. Dylan O’Brien In ‘Spider-Man’?
Spider-Man is going back to high school.
Sony Pictures plans to set its next film in the franchise inside Midtown High School, according to Variety. Of course, a younger setting means a younger leading man.
Also being considered for the role, which has now been famously played by both Andrew and Tobey Maguire, is Percy Jackson star Logan Lerman, whose existing relationship with Sony bodes well for his prospects.
The upcoming film wouldn’t be the first time Spidey would be shown in high school, however, the tentative plan is to focus more attention on his time there, exploring more thoroughly his relationships with other students.
As we previously reported, the Spider-Man franchise is going through some big changes due to Sony Pictures’ merger with Marvel. As a result of the new partnership, Spider-Man will be permitted to be shown in upcoming Marvel films, which up until now had not been possible.
Because of this, audiences may actually see Spidey on the big screen before the next official Spider-Man film, slated for July 2017, as he is widely assumed to appear in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, which will be released in May, 2016.
