50 Cent’s Kanye West Grammy Awards Diss — See His Hilarious Spoof
50 was on hand to discuss his upcoming underwear line called Frigo, but definitely segued into discussing Kanye’s actions at the Grammy Awards after he revealed that he would choose him to model his new collection.
The infamous rapper told People that he would choose Kanye because, “he would rant and make sure everybody was thinking about it.” 50 then angrily stood up and acted like Kanye saying, “No, you are supposed to respect artistry” before hinting at a smile — spot on!
When asked if he thought Kanye’s actions were “understandable or reprimandable” he said, “I’m not sure that people care about those establishments anymore. I mean now I think to say it, to go and not actually win — my reasoning for being excited about being at an award show is my peers being there to acknowledge the work and if it means that we get to choose ourselves who deserves the awards then why would I show up for them to tell me?”
He continued, “I felt that I deserved the Best New Artist for my first album, it’s the largest debut in rap with $13 million records sold and when’s the last time you ever saw Evanescence? Crickets, crickets. It’s just the way it is.”
50 then went on to say why he feels that Beck deserved the award. In the process, he dissed Beyonce. “He produced the record, wrote the record, theres eleven producers on Beyoncé’s album. Kanye being a producer and a writer we should see that. We get jaded.”
“I thought it was funny. I looked at it as just a funny thing that people were going to talk about,” John told Us Weekly. “It didn’t hurt anybody.Anybody who’s upset just needs to relax. It was funny.”
John continued, “Beck won his award fair and square. Beck is super talented and I have several of his albums and I’ve listened to him for a long time. I think people were surprised that he won but that doesn’t mean he’s not deserving, that just means people thought other people were going to win too.”
