Congrats are in order to one Mr. Sam Smith! At the 2015 Grammys on Feb. 8, despite the stiff competition, the superstar walked away with the Grammy Award for Record of the Year for the hit song “Stay With Me.”
At this year’s Grammys, Record of the Year was anyone’s to lose but, of course, someone had to win. And win they did: Ladies and gentlemen, your winner of this year’s prize, Sam Smith. But the accomplishment doesn’t stop there for Sam: he had won three times already earlier in the evening! On top of that, he also gave an acceptance speech that was both hilarious and awesome! You’ve got to hear the surprising person he dedicated the award to!
Sam Smith Wins Grammy For Record Of The Year
Talk about a night to remember.
Sam walked away with a whopping four Grammy awards at the ceremony on Feb. 8, the first at which he has even been nominated!
Living legends Stevie Wonder and Jamie Foxx introduced the category which, on its own, must have been an honor for all the nominees.
Finally, when the two announced the winner, Sam took to the stage and he had the best speech!
“Dear lord thank you so much,” Sam said. “This is the best night of my life. I want to thank the man who this record is about– thank you so much for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys!”
Hey, that’s what I’d call a silver lining!
It probably feels this way every year, but seriously, this year the competition in this category was absolutely stacked.
Yeah. As we said, the competition was freakin’ fierce. Regardless of the actual winner here, though, it’s safe to say that all five nominees have had some seriously great moments this year.
Were you glad to see Sam win? Who did you want to see walk away with the prize?
