So shocking. Rosie O’Donnell is quitting ‘The View’ after splitting from her wife, Michelle Rounds, her rep confirmed. We feel so bad for Rosie, who must be going through a very difficult time right now. This will be her second exit from the ABC talk show.
Rosie O’Donnell, 52, is saying goodbye to two of her families: her wife of nearly three years, Michelle Rounds, and her co-hosts, Nicole Wallace, Rosie Perez, and Whoopi Goldberg, at The View. On Feb. 6, Rosie’s rep confirmed she will be quitting the ABC talk show, following an unexpected split from her wife.
Rosie O’Donnell Leaving ‘The View’ & Wife: Talk Show Host & Michelle Rounds Split
“I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November. Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave ‘The View.’ Next week will be her last,” Rosie’s rep, Cindi Bergman, confirmed to Page Six.
For the newly single comedian, family comes first and ABC is respecting her wishes, as seen in a statement they also released on Feb. 6.
“Rosie is an immensely talented star who comes in each and every morning brimming with ideas, excitement and passion for the show. When she told us she wanted to exit ‘The View,’ we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first. We’re delighted she’s still part of the ABC family with upcoming guest appearances on ‘The Fosters,’ and we know she’ll return to ‘The View’ often with her unique point of view and updates on her work and her family,” the network said.
Surprisingly, Rosie and Michelle have been living apart for months, according to Page Six, so we can understand why she wants to be home with her children as they endure this major change in their lives.
However, some may speculate that her abrupt departure could be attributed to rumors of her rocky relationships with her co-hosts and producers.
Rosie O’Donnell Being Forced Out Of ‘The View’? — The Truth
As the show struggles to maintain a consistent group of talk show personalities, in true Rosie fashion, the star ruffled feathers by candidly sounding off on controversial topics.
Nonetheless, it seemed like Rosie’s second go around at The View was decidedly less dramatic than her first stint leading up to her departure in 2007.
“Rosie really wants The View to work and demands hard work from everyone in the cast and crew. It’s been a stressful transition, especially with the ratings being what they are. That may rub off on some people as negative, but mostly everyone enjoys Rosie and is on the same page as her when it comes to making the show the best it can possibly be,” a source previously told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
We are so upset after learning this sad news. We wish Rosie all the best moving forward — we’ll definitely miss her!
