In today’s edition of most rad news ever: Marvel has just announced plans for an all-female Avengers team– the first ever!
Okay, this is just awesome. Marvel– ya know, that franchise known for buff male superheros and not a whole lot of ladies– has just announced plans to seriously up their estrogen levels. The upcoming Secret Wars will feature yet another butt-kicking team, the A-Force. But there’s a very notable difference about the A-Force from world savers past: This one is comprised solely of women. Heck yes!
Marvel’s All-Female A-Force
Say it with me: yaaaaas!
Marvel has just seriously stepped it up. With the upcoming film Secret Wars, The Avengers, sadly, will come to an end. However, it’s not all bad news. Stepping up to fill the leadership position will be the all-female team of heroes, A-Force, and we could not be more excited.
The A-Force will consist of Dazzler, from X-Men, She-Hulk, Medusa and Nico Minoru, who’s a member of Runaways.
‘Very Different Power Sets’
In an official statement, Marvel series co-writer G. Wilson Wilson confirmed both the news and his enthusiasm about the impending diversity.
“We’ve purposefully assembled a team composed of different characters from disparate parts of the Marvel U,” G. said. Each superhero will have “very different power sets, identities and ideologies.”
Marvel itself also shared their excitement for the new project. “Marvel Comics is excited to announce the new group of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes taking over an all-new era with Marvel Comics’ A-Force co-written by G. Willow Wilson and Marguerite K. Bennett with artwork by Jorge Molina,” the franchise posted on their website.
Though the new female team is sure to stir up some controversy amongst fans of the Marvel franchise, there’s no denying that it is an advancement for women everywhere.
