Parents at a Chicago-area day care center are worried sick that their children could come down with the measles. So far, 5 babies from the school have been diagnosed with the disease. How awful!
The KinderCare Learning Center in Palatine, Ill., has parents terrified after five of the infants enrolled at the center were diagnosed with the measles. These parents have every reason to worry as officials have reportedly warned them that their children are still at risk. Those poor babies.
Multiple Infants Diagnosed With Measles In Chicago
More cases of the measles are popping up. The most recent location is at a Chicago day care center. The scary part? Infants cannot be vaccinated and are therefore at higher risk for contracting the highly contagious respiratory viral disease!
KinderCare Learning Center parents are terrified when it comes to their children’s health. Two infants who attend the same center as their children have tested positive for measles.
Unfortunately, the cases don’t stop there.
Three more children have been diagnosed — results pending — according to a statement released by the Cook County Department of Public Health and state officials.
The statement continued to say, “All students, staff and faculty at this facility have been notified and anyone who has not received the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine has been instructed to remain at home and away from unvaccinated individuals for the next 21 days.”
Hopefully, no more babies come down with the virus.
Is The Outbreak Linked To The Disneyland Case?
So far, it is unclear if the outbreak in Chicago is linked to the previously confirmed case in suburban Cook County or the multi-state outbreak associated with Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., according to CNN.
With all of these cases popping up, the debate over vaccines will continue to be a huge issue.
“Any resident who is unvaccinated and experiences symptoms of a high fever and a rash should call their local health department as well as their healthcare provider,” the press release also reads.
Parents, this is a strong reminder to make sure you and your children are vaccinated!
