I’m so excited! I’m so excited! I’m so… nope, just still so excited! Jimmy Fallon took the world back to 1993 and staged an epic ‘Saved By The Bell’ reunion on ‘The Tonight Show’ on Feb. 4! The whole gang went back to Bayside: Zack, Kelly, Jessie, Slater — time out, where’s Lisa Turtle?
For anyone who grew up in the 90s, ‘Saved By The Bell’ is still the epitome of cool. The hair, the music, the cell phones the size of a brick. So when Jimmy Fallon got the cast together on Feb. 4 for an in character reunion, minds were blown, tears shed and nostalgia feelings were had by all. But I for one was left wanting, because my favorite character, Lisa Turtle, played by the fabulous Lark Voorhies was missing! Where could she have been? And where was the rest of the ‘Saved By The Bell’ gang?
‘Saved By The Bell’ Reunion Missing Lark Voorhies, AKA Lisa Turtle
The question remains unanswered. When Jimmy tried to reunite the cast back in 2010 on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, she was one of the first cast members to get on board. It was Dustin Diamond (also missing from the Tonight Show reunion) who was the hold out and brought their reunion to a ‘screeching’ halt. But his absence, while sad for fans, isn’t all that shocking. Even if he wasn’t dealing with the aftermath of being arrested for stabbing a man, it’s widely known that Dustin has fallen from grace with the rest of the cast for writing a tell-all book about the show, which was then turned into a Lifetime Original Movie.
But Lisa Turtle! Guys, that one hurt. I have no doubt the world agrees with me that seeing the majestic wonder that was the resident gossip queen and fashionista that always kept her outfits on point would’ve been out of sight. Ugh! I would’ve loved to have seen her in shoulder pads again! (For the record – Though she has publicly denied it, it has been suggested by those close to her, including her mother, that the actress has been battling bipolar disorder for several years, which may explain her absence.)
‘Saved By The Bell’: 3 Characters They Need For The Next Reunion
While seeing the gang in almost its entirety was still pretty sweet, it just didn’t feel as complete without Lark Voorhies. And then it got me thinking of all the other great characters SBTB had along the way, people I’d personally love to see hanging out at The Max again. So, Jimmy, should you decide to do another reunion in the near future, consider giving these folks a call:
1) Leah Remini: For one glorious season, the gang went to the beach and Zack met his only other real significant girlfriend, Stacey Carosi. She was tough, she was totally New York, and she wasn’t afraid to put Zack Morris in his place. The reason she was so great was that we were all just watching a young Leah put the sun bleached brains from Bayside in their place. And honestly, if you ask me, she was the perfect girl for Zack. Her New York swagger complimented his cocky California ego. But, it wasn’t meant to be. Back to Brooklyn she went, but it made for one glorious season. But does she still run the beach club with her father? Where did her bug business dreams take her after she left Zack alone at sunset on the beach?
2) Leanna Creel: No one was more bad ass than Tori Scott. No one! When Kelly and Jessie inexplicably disappeared in the last season of the show, the severe lack of estrogen was balanced by the introduction of the motorcycle-riding, leather jacket wearing, curly haired cutie. She took over their senior year: she made out with A.C. Slater, she dated Zack for a hot second — and then she disappeared without ever being mentioned again! Inquiring minds want to know what happened to her!
3) Ed Alonzo: C’mon! Who could forget Max — he owned The Max! Besides mulling around their own lockers, the best place to find the gang was in a booth at their favorite local hotspot between milkshakes and gossip, and Max was there, with a smile and a magic trick up his sleeve, literally. BUT, he was only in 20 episodes before, alakazam, he disappeared! Where is he now? Did The Max become a chain? Is he working the magician’s circuit in Vegas?
What about you, Hollywoodlifers? Who would you like to see show up in the next Saved By the Bell reunion?
