They’re here. The first official trailer for the ‘Poltergeist’ remake has arrived, and it is going to haunt your dream (okay, your nightmares).
After being teased with stills from the film, we now have our first trailer for the Poltergeist remake and, as was to be expected, it’s absolutely horrifying. A recreation of the original 1982 film, this modernized reboot will hit theaters on July 24, and if you don’t want to sleep until then, watch the extended sneak peek for the movie right now!
‘Poltergeist’ Trailer: Reboot Will Be Terrifying
The trailer starts off innocently enough.
Amusingly making the children’s hair fly up, whatever unidentified spirits which possess the house are friendly at first. “I like this house!” the youngest daughter, Maddy (Kennedi Clements) says.
But, as we know, things quickly take a turn for the terrifying.
Maddy is “kidnapped” by the ghost-like presences, and they incessantly terrorize the family.
“We have to call somebody,” the mother (Rosemarie DeWitt) says, sobbing.
“We can’t call the cops,” her husband (Sam Rockwell) replies. “What are we going to tell them?”
‘It’s A Poltergeist’
Not knowing what to do, the family calls a ghost exterminator (Jared Harris) of sorts who gives them both good and terrible news.
The good news is, “Your daughter is here and she’s alive,” he says.
“This development was built on a cemetery. This isn’t just a few pissed off ghosts– it’s a poltergeist.”
The rest of the trailer is your standard tear-inducing terror: murderous clowns, massive explosions, being sucked into walls as a footlong nail violently attacks you. All the most fantastic nightmare materials.
As we previously reported, the remake will be directed by Gil Kenan, with an updated screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning dramatist David Lindsay-Abaire.
