A Cub Scout troop got an eyeful while they were out on a nature hike with their pack master. The group of young boys stumbled upon dozens and dozens of naked people at a nude beach. But it wasn’t by mistake!
A group of innocent 8- and 9-year-old boys were prepared to go on a Cub Scout adventure to hiking the San Diego coastline on Jan.24, what they weren’t prepared for was walking across a nudist beach. The hike was supposed to be a nature expedition through Torrey Pines State Park in California, but an alternate route was taken, bringing the young boys face-to-face with naked adults!
Cub Scouts: Troop Visits Nude Beach During Hike
When you sign up for Cub Scouts, you expect to learn hiking through mother nature and scouting wild animals, not so much walking onto a nudest beach and seeing strangers in the buff!
The pack master of Troop 766, Desmond Wheatley, was supposed to be leading his troop through trails in Torrey Pines State Park, but decided to guide the young boys across Black’s Beach — a very well known nude beach.
Parents Diane and Erik Lekven, who were accompanying their 4th grade son on the trip, were outraged he was subjected to the visual of naked strangers tanning, swimming and running up and down the sand.
Their entire troop was farther ahead of the parents, leaving Diane to sprint over to them once she noticed where they were heading.
The mother was not happy at all and went straight to Desmond, “When I got up there I said ‘Hey what are you doing? We’re in the middle of a nudist beach,” Diane told CBS News. But according to her, the pack master casually responded, “This is a naturalist beach, and my family and I go through here all the time it’s not a big deal.”
How could he think this was considered “taking in nature”? You can’t blame the parents for being angry with the Desmond’s decision.
A Hiking Trip Quickly Becomes An Uncomfortable Experience
After not getting through to Desmond that the troop shouldn’t be on the beach, Diane got mad and demanded they turn around, but quickly realized they would be heading back into the X-rated scene.
“I was nauseated because I’ve never seen just a bunch of nude people walking around holding hands, strange people that I don’t know,” she told the media.
Although Diane and her husband filed a complaint with the Boy Scouts, they were told it didn’t go against their policy.
Maybe we’re old school, but Cub Scouts didn’t just casually stumble upon nude beaches during hiking trips!
What do YOU think HollywoodLifers, should the pack leader be held responsible for bringing the boys to the nude beach? Let us know.
