It’s one of the days everyone looks forward to all year. Did the adorable little groundhog predict six more weeks of winter or is spring on its way! Click to find out!
Feb. 2 is a very special day. It’s the day everyone who’s been slammed with winter finds out whether or not they’ll have six more weeks of snow and ice. Did the legendary Punxsutawney Phil of Punxsutawney, Penn. come out of his burrow to see his shadow?
Groundhog Day 2015: Punxsutawney Phil Sees His Shadow
Six more weeks of winter, y’all.
Unfortunately, little Phil saw his shadow again this year at Gobbler’s Knob. His appearance was highly-anticipated by an anxious crowd.
Looks like the warmer weather is a little further down the road. With brutal winter storms like Juno, the northeastern part of the United States could have really used a reprieve from the freezing temperatures.
But alas, Phil knows best. Granted, we’ll all probably be complaining about the scorching temperatures come June and July.
One last thing: As the late great Ned Stark says, “Winter is still coming.”
Groundhog Day: A Short History
Punxsutawney Phil has been making his big prediction for 129 years. He’s lived through two World Wars, the Great Depression and more. He was around way before we had computers. Think about that.
The holiday was a tradition brought to the attention of the Germans by the Romans, according to PennLive.com. The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club was founded in 1887 by a group of groundhog hunters.
Since the 2015 Super Bowl was just one day earlier on Feb. 1, we wonder if Punxsutawney Phil predicted that the Patriots would take the win over the Seahawks? The answer to that is probably yes!
HollywoodLifers, are you looking forward to six more weeks of winter? Let us know!
