It was all about the twin merge on ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ which meant that it was the end of the line for one of the gorgeous Parkers.
With Sheriff Forbes’ (Marguerite MacInytre) life on the line, the troops rallied around Caroline (Candice Accola) to reassure her that it wasn’t her fault that her mother had gotten sicker — even though it was. But could one of the witches in Mystic Falls help? If Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has anything to say about it, the answer is yes.
Sheriff Forbes’ Last Leg
Unfortunately for Caroline, she found out pretty quickly that feeding Colin, the sick patient at the hospital, her blood didn’t save him — it actually killed him and he turned into a vampire.
Naturally, when she got down on herself (since she kind of is to blame now), Stefan (Paul Welsey) had her back and reminded her that she was doing anything possible to help her mother. Damon on the other hand wasn’t as helpful, and decided to put a suffering Colin out of his misery of being a new vampire, but also reminded Caroline she “didn’t just kill him.” It was true sure, but Damon calling out Caroline for killing her own mother? Harsh, dude.
Shout out to Sheriff Forbes here because when she learned about her cancer cells growing thanks to Caroline’s vamp blood, all she was worried about was Caroline, who ran out in a mess. Again, Stefan to the rescue.
Damon’s Plan Goes Sour
To try and help the Sheriff, Damon attempted to get Kai to suck the magic out of her. Instead, he literally made her flatline for a few — way too long — moments, and then grabbed Jo to go and merge.
At that same time, Liv and Luke were being forced to merge by hot papa Parker, since he wasn’t about to let Kai take over. Luckily, Tyler (Michael Trevino) jumped in and saved their lives at the last-minute. But did that mean Kai and Jo would merge? Not so fast. After Tyler swooped in, Luke ran to Kai and broke up the Kai-Jo merge going on. Instead, he told him that while they weren’t twins he wanted to merge with him, because he’d do anything to save his sister.
And he did. To no one’s surprise, Kai won, taking Luke’s life.
Life’s Too Short
As for Damon and Elena (Nina Dobrev), well the possibility of losing Sheriff Forbes is definitely not helping their possible romance. Elena doesn’t remember ever liking him, but she was slowing growing to again — and when he asked her out on a date, she of course obliged and agreed they could “start over.”
However, after Sheriff Forbes literally flatlined in her arms, she realized that life was too short (even though, uh, her life would never end), and they kissed… it’s about freakin’ time. At least someone on this show is getting a moment of happiness.
It may be on the way for Caroline, though. At the end of the episode, the Sheriff made Stefan promise she would take care of Caroline when she was gone. He agreed, and Caroline heard the whole thing.
So, are you excited that Delena are finally moving forward? Are you sad to see Luke go? Let us know what you thought of the episode.
