It’s a tale as old as time — and Emma Watson’s going to star in it! That’s right. The ‘Harry Potter’ alum was just cast as Belle in the live-action remake of Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast!’
Yes, be our guest and get excited! Emma Watson may be most known for her role as Hermione in the Harry Potter series, but now she’s changing in her cloak for hat yellow gown. Disney announced on Jan. 26 that the 24-year-old actress will officially play the role as Belle in the new film!
Emma Watson Playing Belle In ‘Beauty & The Beast’
Emma will portray the role as Belle in the film, directed by Bill Condon, the director of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. The script is written by Stephen Chbosky — who Emma has worked with before. Stephen directed the film adaptation of The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Emma took to Facebook to respond to the announcement:
I’m finally able to tell you… that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There’. My six year old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it. Emma xx
Who Will Play The Beast?
Well that answers our question — yes, she will be singing. Now of course, the question remains — who will play the beast and more importantly, who will play Gaston? We’d love to see some hotties like Liam (or Chris) Hemsworth, or maybe Bain himself, Tom Hardy. However, they also have to be able to sing, so we’ll see who can pull their weight!
What do you think of the casting, HollywoodLifers?
