Shonda Rimes needs to ship a case of champagne to this women STAT! ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ is the new show everyone is talking about and it’s incredible lead star, Viola Davis, won at the 2015 SAG Awards for her insane performance as Annalise Keating. Her first major win for the role — but certainly not her last.
Hey, do you think they’ll trade out the miniature statue of Lady Justice for her SAG Award in the next episode? (Think about it Shonda!) While fans have been waiting tirelessly for weeks for HTGAWM to return to their Thursday nights, they now have more to celebrate with Viola’s big win. Only half into the first season and she’s already racking them in! Though she’s won once before at the SAG Awards for her role in The Help in 2012, Viola relished in her win as Annalise Keating with a very touching speech.
She applauded the creators of her show for redefining ‘sexy’ as a ’49-year-old dark skinned woman’ and thanked all the people who love her ‘exactly how God made’ her, like her husband, son and mother. Beautifully said by a beautiful woman!
Viola winning tonight puts her in some pretty spectacular company. Also walking off with a statue this evening was Patricia Arquette, Kevin Spacey, and Uzo Aduba. But as for Viola, we’ll make sure to raise our Scandal sized wine glasses in a toast to her when How To Get Away With Murder returns on Thursday, Jan. 29. Can’t wait!
Hollywoodlifers, aren’t you thrilled for Viola?
