‘X-Men: Apocalypse’: Tye Sheridan Cast As Cyclops — 5 Things To Know About The Actor

Though we’ve got some time before the Apocalypse release next year, why not get a jumpstart on getting to know the talented young Tye? We have you covered!

1. Tye is legal– barely:

The actor was born in November of 1996, putting him at the ripe age of 18.

2. Tye’s resume is stacked:

Although Tye isn’t quite a Hollywood name just yet, he boats some impressive projects to his name. With 14 major acting credits, including on the hit films Mud and The Tree of Life, his new role seems to be in competent hands.

3. Tye knew nothing about Brad Pitt before working with him:

Apparently there actually are people in the world who don’t care about Brad. In an interview with Red Eye Chicago, Tye said, “When I filmed Tree of Life, I wasn’t a big movie watcher. Honestly, I didn’t even know who Brad Pitt was.”

4. Tye has humble beginnings:

Though he’s about to star in one of the biggest film franchises ever, Tye isn’t from a show biz family. He was born and raised in Elkhart, Texas, where his mother owns a beauty salon and his father is an employee of UPS.

5. Tye is an award winning actor:

He hasn’t won an Oscar just yet, but Tye did receive the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the 70th Venice International Film Festival in 2013 for his work in the film Joe, in which he starred opposite Nicolas Cage.

Are you guys excited to see Tye in X-Men: Apocalypse? Do you think he’ll do the Cyclops justice?
