Ariana Grande — well, her voice — is headed to the movie theaters everywhere for the first time. In ‘Underdogs,’ the singer joins Bella Thorne and Nicholas Hoult in a cute comedy about foosball players saving their beloved hometown.
Ariana Grande, 21, is finally making her big screen debut in the upcoming animated film, Underdogs. In the film she voices Laura, the free-spirited love interest of Matthew Morrison‘s foosball-loving Jake. Together, they will take down their biggest enemy and save their town from being demolished.
‘Underdogs’ Trailer: Ariana Grande’s Big Screen Debut
This looks like so much fun!
Underdogs tells the story of Jake and Laura, two childhood best friends who love playing everyone’s favorite table sport: foosball.
The film, although animated, marks Ariana’s move to the big screen after spending years acting on television. How exciting!
Underdogs‘ synopsis, via IndieWire:
Jake (Morrison) is a shy, but talented, foosball player. His passion for the game is rivaled only by his love for free-spirited Laura (Grande). With her encouragement, he beats the town bully, Ace (Hoult), in a foosball game. But everything changes when Ace becomes the world’s best soccer player and returns years later to turn their village into a new sports stadium. He starts to destroy everything and kidnaps Laura in the process. Just when it looks like all hope is lost, the toy figures from Jake’s foosball table come to life. He and the players embark on a wild adventure to save Laura and reclaim their village. With the help of his team, his town, and a little bit of magic, Jake will try to save the day.
