Origa, the singer who performed the theme songs for the Ghost in the Shell series, has reportedly died at the age of 44. A fellow voice actress said she passed away due to complications from lung cancer.
Origa Dead: ‘Ghost In The Shell’ Singer Dies
Origa was born in Russia, but found fame in Japan. She performed the theme songs for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society, Princess Arete and Fantastic Children.
After the release of the Ghost in the Shell series, she became widely recognized outside of Japan.
She performed the hymn singing voice for the character Kanon in Gust and KOEI Tecmo Games for PlayStation 3 and Playstation Vita video game. She had worked with other singers like Maaya Sakamoto and Mai Yamane.
The singer released seven albums and three singles over the course of her career.
