This is so incredible. A cat named Masha saved the life of a baby who was abandoned in the cold streets of Obninsk, Russia, and is now considered a local hero. Such a heartwarming story!

What a hero! Masha, a long-haired tabby cat who is looked after by local residents in Obninsk, Russia, rescued a baby who was abandoned in the streets on Jan. 15, by keeping him from freezing to death.

Cat Rescues Baby: Masha The Cat Keep Baby Warm In Obninsk, Russia

If it weren’t for Masha coming to the rescue, the baby would not have survived the cold, after he was cruelly thrown into a box and left out in the streets. The baby was reportedly wearing a hat and had baby food in the box with him, according to the New York Post.

A couple hours later, Masha found the baby and climbed into the box with him to keep him warm. Masha, a communal cat looked after by local residents, meowed to get people’s attention.

“She is very placid and friendly, so when I heard her meowing, I thought she had injured herself,” Irina Lavrova, an Obninsk city resident said. “Normally she would have come and said hello to me. You can imagine my shock when I saw her lying in a box next to a baby. Clearly her mothering instincts had taken over and she wanted to protect the child.”

Once the baby was found, he was rushed to a local hospital for a checkup, and was declared healthy — thanks to Masha, who kept him out of harms way.

Being the hero that she is, Masha is reportedly being “spoiled rotten” by the people of Obninsk.

“Everyone in the block is very proud of her,” Irina said. “We have all spoiled her rotten by giving her her favorite food.”
