Just two and a half years after leaving the ‘Today’ show, Ann Curry will be reportedly leaving ‘NBC News.’ A formal announcement is expected later today.
Ann Curry will be heading off on her own! The newscaster, 58, who began working at NBC in 1990, will be signing off of NBC News and beginning her own production company, our sister site, Variety reports.
Ann Curry Leaving NBC News
She hosted Today alongside Matt Lauer from1997 to 2011, but after a reported spat that could not be solved, she exited in 2012 and took over NBC News.
However, sources tell Page Six that Ann has been ready to go for some time.
“Ann has been unhappy for a long time because she’s basically doing nothing, while NBC is unhappy that she has been paid a lot of money to do nothing,” their insider revealed.
Her new plan is reportedly to launch a production company that will provide documentaries as well as news reports to numerous news outlets, including NBC.
We wish Ann all the luck in her next step, but we’ll totally miss seeing her on NBC News!
