After a shocking death on the Jan. 11 episode of ‘Resurrection’, Preacher James and Marty try to resurrect a beloved character. Will they succeed?
We already know that anyone can “disappear” a returned person if they know how (we’re looking at you, Margaret Langston), and in the latest episode of Resurrection, we find whether it’s really possible to bring back someone who has died. Agent Marty Bellamy (Omar Epps) finally joins forces with James (Jim Parrack), but can the mysterious preacher really be trusted? Read on for the full recap!
‘Resurrection’: [SPOILER] Dies: Will He Return? — Season 2 Episode 11 Recap
Marty has a dream about James in which he asks the preacher what happened the day Marty drowned in the river. James explains that there was a flood, Marty was floating in a basket and it was sinking. James says, “We’ve been chosen, Robert, and we have important work to do.”
Then the duo stumble upon a man in the forest who says he’s lost. James tells him that everything’s OK but he says, “No, please, take me back.” Marty is wondering “back where,” and now so are we!
Marty’s sister, Jenny (Nadej K. Bailey), reveals that Preacher James used to heal people in church and Marty, suspicious of James, is convinced that the preacher has come to town to try to swindle Arcadians out of their money.
Meanwhile, Margaret Langston (Michelle Fairley) is living in a facility with all the rest of the unclaimed returned people and it turns out her reputation has preceded her. Everyone seems terrified of Margaret and they keep whispering, “She’s the one.” It seems like they know that she has the power to persuade the returned to disappear.
Marty, Lucille (Frances Fisher), Jacob (Landon Gimenez) and Jenny stumble on Preacher James giving a sermon in the middle of the town. He tells an old woman who recently lost her husband to believe that he will come back to her. When she turns around, her husband — the man from Marty’s dream — is standing there before her!
Rachel shows up at Dr. Maggie’s (Devin Kelley) clinic and tells her she’s having contractions. Maggie tells her that she was having Braxton Hicks contractions and the baby’s not here yet — but that it should be born any day now. Rachel explains everything that happened with Janine and Maggie seems worried. But Rachel promises, “I’m not afraid of that b*tch… she’s not going to come near me again.”
Marty accuses Preacher James of being a con artist and says he doesn’t have the power to bring people back from the dead and that what he did in town was a trick. James tells Marty that he really did bring the man back and says he knows about Marty’s dream in the woods. “We shared a vision,” James says, incredulous that after everything Marty has been through, he still doesn’t “believe.”
Back at the facility, one of the returned begs Margaret to help orchestrate an escape plan. But Margaret says she doesn’t want to leave because there’s nothing for her out there.
‘Resurrection’: Marty & Preacher James Try To Bring Back Henry
At the police station, Marty has a vision of Henry (Kurtwood Smith) thanking him for bringing Jacob back to him and Lucille. Suddenly Marty and Sheriff Fred (Matt Craven) hear a horn outside. They rush out and find Henry dead behind the wheel of his car after having a heart attack. OMG WHY!?!?
Fred is beside himself as he stares at his brother’s dead body laid out on the stretcher. This is so heartbreaking!
Fred goes to tell Lucille that Henry is dead and she’s in shock. She was supposed to meet him that night and she says she can’t understand why he didn’t show up. “Henry’s coming back,” she insists. “He just needs a little help.” Lucille believes that Preacher James has the power to bring Henry back. She goes to see him to ask for help and he says the only way he can bring Henry back is with Marty’s help.
Fred and Lucille turn to Marty but he says James is just trying to “get into his head.” But Maggie argues, “What do we have to lose?” And when Jacob says, “Please, Marty, you have to try,” we know Marty is in.
After talking to James, Marty realizes that he “came back for a reason.” Preacher James asks Fred or Marty to shoot him so that he can retrieve Henry and Fred almost instantly obliges. They leave James in a grave, full of hope that he will return with Henry.
But three hours later, there’s still no sign of a returned Henry or Preacher James. Fred calls Margaret to tell her about Henry’s death and she cooly says, “Thank you for telling me,” but then starts sobbing after she gets off the phone.
But just when everyone is ready to give up, James shows up at Lucille’s door — with Henry! What a relief!
Someone at the facility tells Margaret that Henry has returned, thanks to Pastor James. Margaret says she knows him from when she was a little girl.
Preacher James admits to Marty that he was a “wicked” man in his past life. He confesses that he wanted to die the day he tried to save Marty at the river. “I tried you save you, you ended up saving me. You gave me a purpose, in life and now after death.”
Then Preacher James says that he’s seen many others who are waiting to return and he wants to bring them back, with Marty’s help — but is this a good idea? Tell us what YOU think, HollywoodLifers!
