Oh snap! Tina aimed her sharp wit directly at the Cecil B. DeMille Award recipient George and it couldn’t have been any funnier. Tina pointed out that although George was the one receiving the nights big award it was his wife Amal who really deserved to be honored!
Tina Fey, 44, and Amy Pohler, 43, kept the celebs smiling with their jokes at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 11 in Beverly Hills. None more so than George Clooney, 53, who had a big laugh when Tina pointed out that while George was receiving the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, his wife Amal Alamuddin — a human rights lawyer — was the one who had the more impressive resume! See what she said!
Golden Globes Opening Monologue — Tina Fey Disses George Clooney
“George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin this year,” Tina said straight faced. “Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an advisor to Kofi Annan regarding Syria and was selected for a three person U.N. commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza Strip. So tonight her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.”
Well she does have a point! The 36-year-old British barrister is incredibly impressive!
Fortunaely George has one of the best senses of humor in Hollywood!
And why shouldn’t he. The handsome Oscar winner was the nights recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award. On hand to present him the award were two of his old friends, ER co-star and love interest Julianna Margulies and George’s co-star in the Ocean’s movies, Don Cheadle.
Tina & Amy’s Hilarious Hosting Night
However, George Clooney wasn’t the only one who got dissed by the hosts — not even a little bit! Tina and Amy took shots at a who’s who of Hollywood including Emma Stone, Bill Cosby, Jennifer Aniston, Joaquin Phoenix, Steve Carrell and many many more!
What do you think HollywoodLifers, to you think Tina and Amy were funny or just plain rude?
