‘Ghostbusters’ update! Fans lost their minds when it was announced a few months ago that there would in fact be an all-female remake of the classic movie ‘Ghostbusters.’ Now, director Paul Feig has spoken out about which leading lady he wants to cast!

Who you gonna call? Possibly Melissa McCarthy! As soon as Paul Feig, who will be directing the updated Ghostbusters film, announced that a remake was actually happening and would be starring funny women(!), Melissa McCarthy’s name was immediately on everybody’s minds to play the Bill Murray role. Now, Paul has confirmed that she is who he wants! But will he get her?

‘Ghostbusters’: Melissa McCarthy Wanted For Lead

Melissa’s ability to steal a scene is unmatched, as evidenced in her breakout role in Bridesmaids. Now, Melissa might get the chance to again show off her comedic chops in the new Ghostbusters remake!

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that she currently tops director Paul’s list to take on the leading role when it comes time to shoot the Ghostbusters remake. It would be an obvious fit, as the two have worked together before (he directed her in both Bridesmaids and The Heat).

So, Will She Take It?

Just because Paul– and, basically everyone else– wants Melissa to play the part, doesn’t mean she will. Unfortunately, there are some scheduling issues. Basically, Melissa is so in demand that she might not be able to squeeze the movie into her jam-packed schedule. Between her CBS show Mike & Molly and her upcoming roles in a ton of movies, finding time to shoot the film, which is scheduled to start filming in June, might be difficult.

Come on, Melissa, work it out! We just have to see you in this movie!

Would you guys want to see Melissa in this role or would you prefer someone else? Tell us!
